EP relaunches Center Highways

Grant serves the districts of Aveiro, Coimbra and Viseu

After terminated without awarding the contest for the road concession Center Highways last September, behold, Estradas de Portugal, SA announces the launch of a new international contest for this road concession.

It was cause for cancellation of the first contest the fact that the two finalists competing exceed by far the values of their specifications, which led to no recommendation for the award by the jury. The reasons given for this were the worsening of the financial costs and adjustments made to routes that include the construction of five new bridges in the area of Aguieira in the case of Center Highways.

This work will serve the districts of Aveiro, Coimbra and Viseu, with the design, construction, increase the number of lanes, financing, operation and maintenance of stretches of Trouxemil / Fail (IP3), Aveiro / Águeda (IC2), Aveiro (IC12 ), Viseu (IC12/IP3) and rods Senhorim / Mangualde (IC12).

So, the contest “Center Higways” is open until the 14th of November, which, being fulfilled, will reveal the winner in the first quarter of 2010.
